The Household Cavalry Museum

The Household Cavalry Museum

The courtyard itself is well worth a look in (since it's free), even if you're not a tourist. The horses and guardsmen are all really friendly. If you encounter a member of the Household Cavalry while they're not on official duty (such as if you're lucky to be there on a social/promotional event), then they are all really splendid, genuine, heartwarming, and friendly people. This is the unit that form the guards in front of Buckingham Palace, so the people that do this job are happy to talk about how it works, what they do, etc etc. There is a museum on site giving the history of the unit in general as well as outlining it's modern day duties. Well worth a visit. Read more...

Burlington Arcade

Burlington Arcade

Lots of instagram opportunities for this well preserved and elegant arcade. Seems to consists entirely of a jewelry stores, and one rather decadent macaroon shop at the end. It's beautiful and quaint. Read more...

Pizza Express

Pizza Express

Usual Pizza Express experience. There are *far* better and cheaper options for a margarita in London, it's £9 here vs £5 for a delicious option elsewhere. This is also the smallest brance I've ever been to, but at least the tables are spaciously arranged. Quick cooking time. Like all branches however, they all have different opinions on what the 'orange wednesday' terms are. At this one, Calzones are not included, where as they are in the others. Service was friendly and courteous however. Read more...

Bubbleology

Bubbleology

This small chain of bubble tea cafes have a really decent range of flavors and flavored jelly/boba compared to some others. They have my winning combination of kiwi and lychee. They have lychee jelly and boba which I've not found elsewhere. It's tucked away from all the food outlets for some reason, but there is usually a quick and steady que. They have little booths to sit in, but being open in a shopping center not as much atmosphere as the city center branches. It's quite refreshing and better than any other drink outlets within Westfield, of which there are not many anyway other than the usual Costa/Starbucks combinations. Read more...

BBC Broadcasting House

BBC Broadcasting House

An interesting and eye catching building given the pink/blue illumination, and the chance to see in the 'BBC One Show' studio on the ground floor. But the best of all, is the random single ping pong table in the corner, and yes, it still has a ping pong ball and two rackets which thankfully have not yet been lost or stolen. It's a rare thing to find in London so have a play! Read more...

Vue Cinemas

Vue Cinemas

Being a new cinema has it's perks. Compared to the aging cinemas of the West End, this cineplex has a whole bunch of screens with a lot of choice for films. This makes it handy as there is always a film on worth seeing. Screen 5 is the best, since it's the 'xtreme' size screen, so most feature films are in here. The sound system is good and rumbly through the floor. The ticket machines outside are a bit naff, as there are often ques and they are hard to use, but you can book seats. The couple of pounds extra for the 'VIP' seats is nothing special, but if you want a bit of space I guess. The seats aren't as good as the BFI IMAX which has the couples seating. Tips, book in advance, make sure you book the large screen (they are labelled as such). There is about 20/25 minutes of adverts which start as the advertised start time, it probably takes about this long to get a ticket. Read more...

Verde & Co

Verde & Co

Barely big enough to fit in, this quirky and unique coffee/deli shop will be packed out with just 10 people inside. The two window seats are must haves if you come here. The have a specialty dark hot chocolate which they are known for, it's £5.50 and it is a treat. It's rich and thick. They also have a wide range of tea combinations worth trying out and a small cake selection. During a weekday afternoon its very peaceful. What you see on the inside is literally all there is to see. There is no toilets. The day I went they shut at 6pm. not 9pm as the listing says. Read more...

The British Museum

The British Museum

Other museums take note. Aside from the stunning museum venue itself, even my 'I don't like museums' friends found something to love about this place. The number of objects to look at, go up close to, and learn about is staggering. There is simply so much volume. It's free to enter, but even if you just give the recommended donation of £5 it's a bargain since it'll provide many hours of enjoyment. Another tip for the locals is the spacious Benugo cafes that occupy the corners of the main concourse. It's a stunning venue, but the cream tea is just £5. Nice tea and an even nicer jam and cream fruit scone. Read more...

Tibits

Tibits

Love this place, there is something for everyone, it's central, quick instant satisfaction. It's kitted out like a nice romantic restaurant, but then has this food boat self-service deli style. Just walk in and grab a free table, then get a hot plate and choose what you want from the food boat. Your plate is then weighed and then charged. A full plate large portion comes in at about £13. The great thing here is the choice. There is loads of options to choose from, the selection is changed all the time. So coming here week after week always promises something new, where as other restaurants stay the same old same old for months on end. Considering how central it is, it's great to walk in and have a full delicious meal within 5 minutes. It's always very busy, but there is always a table somewhere around. Read more...

Chew Tea

Chew Tea

Another popular tea room for Soho. This one has a wider range of flavored popping boba (fruit filled balls), so if you like those come to this one. The staff are all really friendly and will show you all the flavors. My favorite is lychee tea with sweet lime boba. The half-sugar version is more than sweet enough for my taste, so is an option to consider! Read more...
