Made Showroom

Made Showroom

Really plush retail store for the online furniture company. They have a vast selection of posh looking designer homeware, but at very reasonable prices. I can't attest to the long term quality of the stuff, but it certainly looks very high end. It's a modern shop with loads of funky stuff to photo, they use these Android tablets that use NFC price tags. You just tap the tablet against a product you like, and all its configuration info and pricing information shows up - the future! Worth coming in for a wander around. Read more...

Apple Store Covent Garden

Apple Store Covent Garden

Sure it's an Apple Store. But it's turning into a run down tourist attraction. A store that only has 3 of its latest iMacs on display. Staff just stand around talking to each other oblivious to genuine customers around them. This place is just for tourists to play with the latest iPhone. Go during the day or book a one on one appointment is a must. Been here for repairs and sales many times of the years, so it's very disappointing to get such poor service. Read more...

Herman ze German, Soho

Herman ze German, Soho

Honestly the most delicious yet simple thing I've eaten. They do a must eat veggie wurst. It's gluten and lactose free. It's very popular on the weekends. Get a blonde beer, is so light and delicious. The sausage itself has a delicious flavour, it satisfying and substantial. I get it in a bun, but they do in a box with salad. You must must must add the curry tomato sauce, crispy onions, and the jalapeños and it's delicious. The pomes special, basically chips and curry sauce + mayo is also something I could eat all day given the chance. Prices are reasonable, good for groups with large tables downstairs. There are a few in the central London area, all the same menu, but with a slightly different atmosphere - this Soho one is funky and lively. Read more...

Rex (Hell's Kitchen)

Rex (Hell's Kitchen)

Wow their coffee is good. Almond Chai Latte. I had one of these, downed it on first taste and had to go back for another. It's not a big place but have a decent size menu and coffee range. The guys here were super friendly. As a Brit coming to NY it took me a while to get used to the different taste of the roast coffee here. I felt this place tasted just perfect. I'd pick up coffee from here on the way to central park. There isn't that much room to work here, or dwell. Pick up something to go. Read more...

Vapiano Miami

Vapiano Miami

International pasta chain, where you queue and order your pasta or pizza which is made in front of you to order. This one is in what I think is Miami's financial district. That is, there wasn't much else in the area as they seem to occupy what is best described as the ground floor of a financial companies sky scraper. It's reminds me of London's Canary Wharf. The streets in the neighbourhood were virtually empty, and it seems they were all in Vapiano as it was the only place with any human activity in the area. The service here was the fastest of any Vapiano I have been to and the meal was perfect, just how I wanted it. Read more...

Breakfast Club, Canary Wharf

Breakfast Club, Canary Wharf

This one is a little bit different from the more central Breakfast Club. It's still exceptionally busy like the others, and you should expect some wait to get a table, but it just isn't as jazzy as the others. Same menu. Service is a bit slow considering how rushed it always is here - I've been here a few times when there was a long wait for food, food arriving cold, or at different times. The menu is different during weekdays compared to weekends as expected, when it's breakfast only. I've heard the music nights are popular, and it's certainly a good and welcome choice in the Canary Wharf area. Read more...

The Real Greek

The Real Greek

Efficient and satisfying service. It gets very busy here in the evenings but you usually get seated pretty quickly. As a vegetarian, there are quite a few choices. It's good for groups because you order two or three small plates, or share larger platters between yourselves. Halloumi bites and falafel are obviously very popular. The prices do add up once you order a couple of bits, so it's quite cost effective to do from one of the set menus. Would come again. Read more...

Ground Central Coffee Company

Ground Central Coffee Company

A hidden gem. Such a good place to sit with your MacBook and do some work. Have a good menu and drink options. I can easily sit in here for hours sipping coffees. Towards the rear they have a sort of library, with a couple of small tables and sofas. It's very peaceful and the people here are hard at work. It comes across as a very intellectual place. The staff here were all really friendly to me too. Read more...

Camino Bankside

Camino Bankside

The interior is quite beautiful, but there isn't much choice on the menu (hardly any vegetarian options). I know it's tapas and you have to pick a couple of options - but even after doing this, we were left so hungry we had to go eat another meal. The portions are very small, and it's very expensive for what it is. Overall a bit disappointing - but the food itself was delicious, but it was eaten in a second. Wasn't much of a wait, in the evening our whole meal was over in about 25mins. It's not very big (although the kitchen is massive). Read more...

Brasserie Zédel

Brasserie Zédel

Hidden gem. It looks just like a small bistro from the outside - but go inside and downstairs and it's a cavern of french decor from the early 1900s. It's quite beautiful. The dining hall is massive. They have a special vegetarian menu which you have to ask for. Service and the food was perfect. They have special music events that are very popular, it's like being transported back in time since the atmosphere is so authentic. I would book a table to avoid disappointment. Read more...
